Symmetry

The leather bottom filler already looks great. Excellent base for the sole.

The fundamental assumptions for this piece are parameters that, while feeding the impression of a pair of shoes, also break with our preconceived notions of what a pair of shoes is in our minds. For its production, I used a symmetrical pair of lasts, identical materials, and enough elements that fit together.

At every stage of production, one can fully realize some ideas and the precision of execution. Even if no one but the creator will ever see it.

What doesn't fit together is equally important in this case. In this pair, I combined two completely different lacing systems. As a result, this pair is both an oxford and a derby design style.

Using the freedom of experimentation, the production process of these shoes was a creative adventure.

For instance, several elements of the sole presented completely new challenges for me. The narrow waist, the bottom filler using a single piece of leather. The reinforced toe construction, which provides a solid base for the Lulu metal toe plate. The sole's sewing technique will also differ from anything I've ever made so far. It's clear, then, that this pair represents a significant breakthrough in my craft.

The general idea behind this project was to create shoes that were similar enough in design to still feel like a pair, but different enough to attract attention.

My creative path has already seen several attempts to break with symmetry. An example is the pair of heels shown in my previous post. I've also posted clearer photos of this particular piece in my Gallery. Therefore, I believe the issue of symmetry has always been present in my shoemaking imagination.
