Wild Child
There's a region in my mind called the Land of Ideas. This space is inhabited by charming creatures. Most of them are gentle and kind, but there's also a place for the nasty ones. It's a place full of color and action. I like to visit this land from time to time. Sometimes I take things with me when I go out. These are moments of joy and fun, because I can transform these dream visions into something tangible.
This shoe model, which was quite popular among my colleagues, comes from this region.
This project was an impromptu journey into the depths of my subconscious, a wild shoemaking experience, a free-form approach, and a practice in knife-wielding.
Ultimately, this project surprised me for many reasons.
I spent hours crafting most of the upper on my good old Adler sewing machine. As you can see, not all the pieces were finished this way. Some hand-sewing skills were also required.
This was my first foray into creating Balmoral patterns. It's quite challenging, and getting it right requires a period of trial and error. Combined with the side button closure, this design is super sexy. A truly elegant look.
It's not just the shapes of the leather pieces that are important here, but also my unique sewing technique, which I developed quite by accident. I discovered this sewing method, utilizing a double sole construction. For those of you who are into shoemaking, here's how I did it:
I wonder how many of you realize I posted this with The Doors song stuck in my head? There are a few allusions in my writing style. This is just a digression, though. I'm a storyteller and I communicate things on many levels, through words and images. Welcome to my world.
The originality of this work makes it seem like nothing more than a one-off. An interesting journey. I love the bold vision that led me to this project. This shoe certainly had to be included here, as a chronological account of my progress in craftsmanship.
In a sense, it represents a breakthrough in my imagination that paved the way for me to define my own style.
For me personally, it's a snapshot of a fantastic time at the beginning of my career, when I woke up in the morning with no idea what the workday would bring. I try to live this life to the fullest. It's one of the reasons I get excited about things. It fuels my mind and body. I think this approach to life is beautiful.
